Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama's main building was opened in March 1988 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The RSAMD is Scotland's only conservatoire for the training of music and drama, with some 500 full-time and 400 part-time students. The building is also fully equipped as an arts centre and conference venue. The New Athenaeum Theatre, a 3-tier auditorium seating 344, has a large fully equipped stage with a complete range of backstage facilities. The Academy Concert Hall, seating up to 355, is an ideal venue for concerts or meetings with a raked auditorium leading down to a platform area large enough to accommodate a full symphony orchestra and chorus. The Groves Studio seating 200, the Chandler Studio Theatre seating 128 and the Guinness Room seating 108 are also available for performances or meetings. There are 23 large classrooms accommodating between 30-120 people in seminar sessions.
