The Burrell Collection
Surrounded by the beautiful wooded grounds of Pollok Park, just ten minutes from the City Centre, the internationally acclaimed Burrell Collection is one of the most important and wide-ranging collections of this century. Accumulated by wealthy Glasgow ship owner, Sir William Burrell, and gifted to the city in 1944, the Collection includes exceptional examples of medieval tapestries, stained glass, fine art and oriental artefacts. On arrival, the guests enter the Courtyard; an impressive, yet relaxed setting suitable for a variety of receptions. From here, they may wander through the Collection, viewing the eclectic range of artefacts, before retiring to the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant, overlooking the parkland, is modern and stylish and like the Collection itself it combines elegance with informality. The Burrell is unique as a venue, and is particularly popular amongst conference delegates who appreciate the impressive international display.
